With all the changes DoD is making to placate the minoritygroups (i.e. DADT repeal, grooming for certain groups) why has no one looked atthe officer/enlisted relationship issue.
Don’t Hang With Enlisted? The ‘Fraternization’ Line 2 Jun The word on the street at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, home of the Air Force’s basic training school, is that if you’re an officer, hanging out with or paying special attention to enlisted folk is going to get you canned. Craig Perry, the commander of Lackland’s th Training Support Squadron, was fired from his job, given a career ending review and PCSed to a new location due to “lost confidence,” according to this Air Force Times article.
Largely because, an investigation found, “Perry engaged in unprofessional relationships with enlisted members in his organization. And what was this “unprofessional relationship,” you ask? He was reaching out to hurting enlisted members of his squadron and doing stuff that generally makes him and his wife sound like the dream command team.
Because here’s the deal: Sometimes commanders — and their wives — don’t want anything to do with the little people both O and E under them. And it is never fun. But sometimes you come upon a commander and spouse that actually care, that take the time to build the relationships the Air Force and other services have labeled as key to a good command climate and the opposite of toxic leadership.
Enlisting in the Military
Personnel and Resources Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps includes four region headquarters, detachments and more than 1, cross-town universities. The Air Force ROTC program is designed to recruit, educate and commission officer candidates through college campus programs based on Air Force requirements. Students can attend classes through host or cross-town enrollment programs or consortium agreements. Cadet enrollments have ranged from a high of 23, in to a low of 10, in Eligible Air Force enlisted men and women pursuing a college degree who were interested in becoming commissioned officers were given that opportunity through competition in the Air Force ROTC Airman Scholarship and Commissioning Program, established in This restructuring placed oversight for three-quarters of Air Force officer production under one command and facilitated the sharing of manpower and expertise with minimum effect on the day-to-day operations of either organization.
“That an officer and enlisted member subsequently marry does not preclude appropriate command action based on the prior fraternization,” the Air Force instruction states.
Marriage between Officer and Enlisted The custom of the Service accepts officer and enlisted marriages which occur before the officer receives a commission. Lawful marriage between an officer and enlisted service member does not create a presumption of misconduct or fraternization. However, misconduct, including fraternization, is neither excused nor mitigated by subsequent marriage.
Early Resolution Personnel finding themselves involved in or contemplating unacceptable relationships should report the situation and seek early resolution from their supervisor, commanding officer, officer in charge, command enlisted advisor, or Coast Guard chaplain. Any potential conflict with Coast Guard policy should be addressed promptly. Commands are expected to assist members in understanding Coast Guard policy requirements and resolving conflicts.
Bringing an unacceptable relationship to early Command attention will increase the opportunity for early, positive resolution. Pretty cut and dry. If both are serving in the military and one is E and the other is O it is a no go.

When using draftee designation “US”, the first number is either a 5 or a 6. The second number is the “Army Area” the draftee was from. Of interest, is that US67 numbers indicated one of McNamara’s Project , draftees who had failed the Armed Forces minimal IQ test, but were drafted anyway to meet the manpower needs.

That warrant officers appointed by Admiralty departments [commissioned officers were appointed by the crown, by the monarch he or her themselves on advice ] were either of “wardroom rank” or not! Warrant officers of “wardroom rank” were the purser, the surgeon and the master, appointed by warrants from the Victualling Office, the Hurt Office and from the Seamanship departments respectively, and whilst indisputable experts, they were not considered to be GENTLEMEN.
The remainder of brother WOs were of “non wardroom rank” Gunner, Bosun, Carpenter etc because of their lowly social status, having a professionalism relevant only to the naval service. For most of the time they were considered as a ‘group’ and messed together, until the break which in Part One, you will read about. All sorts of high ranking people held Levee’s [arch bishops, admirals, ministers of state etc], and securing a personal invite to any of these was an achievement and a weekly ‘must do’ task.
Naval officers were invited to Levee’s given by the First Lord of the Admiralty [ ] 2nd Viscount Melville, when in the comfort and security of his abode, he kept the officers up to date about what was being discussed by Their Lordships at Admiralty Board meetings. Any officer could attend as long as he was a gentleman. That ruled out surgeons and pursers [amongst others]. Later on, when these two ranks had been “gentlemanised” they attended as invited. Have a look at this cutting taken from The Times in On good advice I am told that ‘womanhood’ [as described here] is the time when girls start their menstruations which on average is fourteen years of age, so the time frame mentioned is from ages nine or eight.
The paragraph starting with ‘The plea for this invidious Note the claim that non-combatants “Civil Warrant Officers” [all alike warrant officers] rank with lieutenants in the navy, and as such, according to R. ROSE the letter writer, are gentlemen.
United States Army Reserve
Cold War[ edit ] A tentative troop basis for the Organized Reserve Corps, prepared in March , outlined 25 divisions: Class A units were divided into two groups, one for combat and one for service, and units were to be at required table of organization strength; Class B units were to have their full complement of officers and enlisted cadre strength; and Class C were to have officers only. Major General Ray E. Porter therefore proposed reclassification of all Class A divisions as Class B units.
Eventually the War Department agreed and made the appropriate changes. Although the dispute over Class A units lasted several months, the War Department proceeded with the reorganization of the Organized Reserve Corps divisions during the summer of

On December 18, , 2-year-old Hunter was in the car along with his mother Neilia, and his brother Beau, then 4, and sister Naomi, 13 months, when their car was hit by a tractor-trailer in an intersection. He has an incredibly close relationship with his father — and had the same with his brother. The accident occurred just weeks after Joe was elected to the Senate for the first time. It was just in his actions. After we lost my mom and my sister in the accident that my brother and I were also in, he was ever-present. Commuted every day back from Washington.
Joe said that he too has leaned on his sons for advice and support throughout his political career. I know that sounds strange to say as a father.
